  • I´M NOT AMERICAN, BUT...
Not being American I have some qualms to discuss American electoral candidates . Anyway, the whole European press often speaks of the item so it is somewhat justified to talk about it.
This is the case that Obama has already acted as a president, initiating contacts for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

In my opinion this is to devalue future elections, less importance to democracy. (Elections have become pure liturgy around the world, namely democracy.) A candidate can speak, even promise, to argue specially but no to act: what makes Obama is not the "fait accompli" of withdrawal of troops, the "fait accompli" that he really transmits is that he is already the president before elections. If he get elected, will be president "as now." Then, withdrawal may occur or not, or could have an escalation in totally opposite direction. But he will continue the presidence.

I want peace as any citizen of the world but I can not doubt that there are objective reasons for the presence of U.S. troops in Iraq. These objective reasons are easier to see when one has laid at last, on the world's largest chair.

There are many "faits accomplis", but in policy issues of religious inspiration and Third World, particularly are "consummate virtue" (vertu accomplie?) which is the most deceptive concept in politics. And basic.. Stalin, Hitler, the popes, and several dozen Obamas around the world, are based on that we think they are Saints, Providential, who want the good and happiness of citizens, and so on. In fact, is the basic outline of every politician. Hugo Chávez, I think that for Venezuelans is a kind of saint, for example.

So I fell well Sarkozy president of France who is politician of right, but he has a very natural, normal, personal attitude in his political work. (Moreover, the French right in Spain would be a devastating left.)

I propose that we, simply, don´t be fooled. And the litmus test is democracy and its arguments: no one speaks to move forward, deepen democracy. Everyone talks about that themselves are very good and that they will settle everything.

To drive correctly and not run over anyone, is a virtuous act. Or work, or read the newspaper: everything is under, so, the "saints" must act, not that their "works" are to show its "virtue".

People always does it so well.
